Sydnie Ozanus - Are You Ready to Go Back to School?

Sydnie Ozanus graduated from Prosper High School a year early and completed her first year of pre-med at Texas Tech University in 2016. She is getting ready to start her second year. Preparing for a new school year can be chaotic. Parents and adult students scramble to gather all of the supplies they need and to adjust to a new schedule. If you are getting ready to start classes, there are a few steps that you can take to cut down on the chaos.

Sydnie Ozanus One tip is to make sure that your financing is in order. Before classes begin, take some time to talk to the financial aid office and the bursar’s office. It may be difficult to make it to these offices if there is an issue after classes start. Checking your school accounts to make sure everything is in order can save you time and stress.

Another tip is to review the materials you will need for your classes. If you are taking a math class that requires a certain type of calculator, it may be helpful to purchase it ahead of time. Purchasing your textbooks and materials as soon as you are able may help you beat the rush in your school’s bookstore.

A third tip is to list your academic goals for the semester. If you want to get better grades than the previous year, make that a goal for yourself and hold yourself to it. Sydnie Ozanus is a sophomore, who is looking forward to a year of fun and education.
